Ben Rogerson BEng (Hon) AMRINA
Ben is a talented yacht designer, originally from Cowes on the Isle of Wight. He holds a First Class Honours Batchelor of Engineering degree in Yacht and Powercraft Design from Southampton Solent University. Here he also gained the accolade of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects and IMarest ‘Top Final Year Student’.
From his early 20’s Ben cut his teeth on composite race boat builds from TP52’s to Open 60’s. Ben has always had a passion for yacht design technology and engineering from a young age.
Following completing a HND in Leisure Boat Design in 2003, Ben worked for eight years on numerous builds such as the Open 60 Estrella Damm, BMW Oracle TP52 and on shore teams including Hugo Boss & Team Alegre.
In 2011 he returned to University to complete his engineering degree. Since that time, his work has included a variety of projects with high profile yacht designers, including two successful 40 foot high performance racing boats, a canting keeler and other commercial and Superyacht projects.
Ben’s extensive sailing experience includes National and European Championship wins in small keel boats as well as being a member of winning teams on the TP52’s, the Commodore’s Cup on the Solent and Mini Maxi events in the Mediterranean. Offshore sailing is also another passion with numerous Fastnet Races, the Middle Sea Race and over 15,000 nautical miles under his belt.
In 2009, Ben undertook a major challenge to sail single-handed non-top around the UK and Ireland in a 6.5 metre Mini Transat. A feat he completed in 15 days, and his time has not yet beaten. Ben’s diverse and extensive sailing experience adds a vital dynamic to the company.
